Do you have some pending questions?

Here are some of the most common questions we've been asked before.

Let's get crafting
  • How frequently is maintenance performed?

Software is updated monthly unless there are reported vulnerabilities, in which case updates are made as soon as possible. Generally, maintenance tasks are conducted monthly as well. Tasks include assessing backup flows, security monitoring, uptime monitoring, and software vulnerability checks.

  • Can I take care of my own website?

If you choose to build a website from scratch or complete a website revamp with SiteCrafter Labs then you will be required to sign up for a maintenance plan. We mandate this because it makes it easy to add your website to our maintenance workflows which affords simplicity, and reduces time and costs for you. Additionally, since we built the website, we would have the best knowledge of its infrastructure and setup, making it easy to manage and will allow us to deliver the highest standards of support to you.

  • What happens to my website if I decide to leave a maintenance plan?

If you choose to part ways with SiteCrafter Labs at the end of a website project or at a later time, we will need to transfer the websites hosting to you. Migration fees will apply.

You will also receive the Website’s Owners Manual (WOM) which includes all the relevant information you will need to perform you own maintenance tasks to keep your website up to date, secure, and safe.

  • SiteCrafter Labs didn’t build my website. Can I still sign up for a management plan without a revamp?

Absolutely! You are not required to revamp your website with us but we will conduct a Maintenance Plan Audit to make sure we will be able to take on the responsibility of managing your website. This audit is different from our primary Website Audit service, the latter of which is meant to help make improvements to your website to help improve your overall business. With a Maintenance Plan Audit, the purpose is to help us understand how your website is running, where it might be failing, and if any changes need to be made when taking over the website’s care.

We may sometimes recommend a complete revamp before you sign up for a maintenance plan if we determine that your website has critical issues related to performance, security, or anything else.

Please note that your website will be required to be hosted with us, so website migration fees will apply.

  • Are there recurring costs to maintain a website after project completion?

Yes! Websites are living and breathing things that require maintenance and care. We make sure we keep WordPress core, along with its plugins and themes updated regularly. Whenever WordPress or any of the plugins that we use to build your website release a security patch, we have to make sure we quickly update it to keep your website protected. There are also disaster recovery best practices that we implement such as daily or weekly backups.

If you craft your website with us then we require that you also sign up for our monthly website maintenance plans which start at $100 CAD per month
